How often should equipment be PAT tested?
There is no single fixed legal interval, but as a general guide: offices every 1 to 2 years, hotels and holiday lets every 1 to 2 years, and workshops or industrial sites every 6 to 12 months. We never recommend leaving it longer than 2 years. We can advise on a sensible schedule for your premises.
Is PAT testing a legal requirement?
The law does not name PAT testing specifically, but it does require employers and landlords to keep electrical appliances safe. PAT testing is the recognised way to show you have met that duty, which is why insurers and inspectors expect it.
