We began with 29 items at a holiday cottage in Crich, then completed the remaining 23 at a second property near Matlock. Kitchens, guest rooms and shared living spaces each bring their own collection of portable appliances, so keeping a separate, accurate inventory for each cottage gives the owner a much clearer safety record.

We spent two days testing 130 electrical assets at an agricultural technology company in Brampton, Chesterfield. The register covered equipment throughout its offices, hallways, kitchen and leadership rooms. Working methodically through each part of the building meant everyday office appliances and the less conspicuous plug-in equipment were all accounted for.

Transport technology manufacturer PAT testing in Tansley

This Tansley visit involved 149 assets at a manufacturer of temporary transport and monitoring technology. Testing moved between offices, the workshop, research and development spaces, the entrance and kitchen. It was a distinctly mixed working environment, combining conventional office appliances with equipment used around technical and workshop teams.

A two-visit primary school PAT test in Derbyshire

A Derbyshire primary school was completed over two visits, one just before Christmas and the second at the start of the new term. Across 160 items, the route took in reception, the headteacher’s office, staff room, medical room, uniform shop and computing suite. Schools rarely have one single type of equipment: administrative IT sits alongside classroom technology, staff appliances and the portable items used in specialist rooms. Splitting the work across 15 December and 5 January allowed the full register to be completed around the school calendar.
