Commercial kitchen and laundry equipment, communal lounge appliances, televisions, lamps and hairdryers supplied in individual rooms, and the charging units and battery packs for hoists, wheelchairs and profiling beds. The mechanical safety of hoists and lifting equipment itself is a separate LOLER inspection, which is not something we carry out, but the electrical charging equipment that keeps them running falls under PAT testing.

Yes. We test kitchen, laundry and communal lounge equipment alongside anything supplied in individual rooms, lamps, radios, hairdryers, electric blankets and televisions.
How does PAT testing fit into a CQC inspection?
CQC inspections look for evidence that a home manages risk well, including electrical safety. A dated PAT certificate and itemised report is straightforward evidence to have on file.
How often should a care home test its equipment?
More often than a typical residential setting, given constant use and vulnerable occupants. Many homes test annually, with communal kitchen and laundry equipment sometimes checked more frequently. We can recommend a schedule once we've seen your site.
